Lessons Learned from a Day of Unplugging
I’m a big fan of experiences, but I have to admit that sometimes I don’t enjoy them to the full extent. A lot of times my experiences are clouded by constant interruptions from notifications, pulling my attention away into my screen. Sometimes, I get pulled in so deep that the experiences don’t happen at all. Some nights I waste my time in front of my television WHILE scrolling through my phone at the same time (as if seven episodes of Gilmore Girls aren’t enough mental stimulation). Being Shy is Selfish
Tonight’s topic is one that I have struggled with and seen my friends and family struggle with as well. Shyness. You know what I’m talking about – you find yourself in a social situation and your mind goes completely blank. Anything and everything you say is stupid, unimportant, and irrelevant. Recently a question was posed by a wonderful mother I know: “How can I get my kids away from the screen?” Since I am not a parent by any means, I don’t find myself all that qualified to answer for her kids, but I figured I would write a post talking about different ways your life, as an adult, can become a little less screened in.
